Chinese decor, Tiki drinks, great beers, and delicious handmade pizzas make for one of Des Moines most unique restaurants. Handmade crab rangoon, pizza rolls, egg rolls, Thai Chicken Pizza and the famous Crab Rangoon Pizza (featured on the Cooking Channel) to name a few. Both lunch slices and late-night slices (10 p.m. to 2 a.m./3 a.m. on weekends).
Although raisin almond beer sounds like a dubious (ok, horrible) idea today, back in 1991 it was the “ah-ha” moment for Confluence Brewing Head Brewer, John Martin. Then a high school student and farm boy from rural Imogene, Iowa, John grew up fascinated with how many things could be made using Iowa’s bountiful grain crops. Grain … alcohol … beer.
Fox Brewing is a craft brewery that proudly brews premium beers, with a focus on exciting, unique, seasonal offerings. There’s a lot of great beer in the Des Moines area, but we’re trying to create something a little different from what’s currently available. We have a Foxy Blonde Belgian Ale and Fox Tail Irish Red Ale available year-round, with a constant rotation of single-batch and barrel-aged beers flavored with locally sourced ingredients when available.
Our goal at 515 Brewing Company is to delight your palate by providing exceptional, flavorful and fresh beer. And because we love beer, we’re always trying new recipes. Expect a new combination of beers on tap, every time you walk through our door. So stop in, pull up a chair and take your taste buds on a beer adventure.
Always looking for an honest opinion to help him develop the beers he creates, Rick entered competitions in Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, and Wisconsin winning several awards along the way. Avoiding the social network of brew clubs and navigating the world of brewing on his own, Rick has been dubbed the “Willie Wonka of Beer” and “the phantom brewer” by his fellow brewers. But stop and talk with Rick about brewing and you will find him very comfortable in a conversation about making beer. Being a home brewer at heart, Rick’s brewing friends will also praise him for his willingness to mentor and coach them in their efforts to make better beer. This is the unique, special place where Rick does his own thing. This is Boone Valley.
